When reporting an issue, please include:
- Page URL where the issue occurred
- What action you took before the issue
- What you expected to happen
- What actually happened
- Your browser version
- Screenshot or screen recording if possible
Common issues
Full-page capture failed
Some pages use complex layouts, sticky elements, lazy loading, or nested scroll containers. If capture fails, retry once, wait for the page to finish loading, and include the page URL and browser version in your report.
Capture overlay appears or behaves unexpectedly
A small spinner always appears at the top-right during capture. If the optional capture overlay is enabled in settings, it appears alongside the spinner. Neither overlay should be visible inside the saved screenshot.
PDF export issues
PDF export is an optional trial feature and is disabled by default in settings. On some pages, PDF export may create large files or formatting differences compared with PNG export.
Why was my screenshot copied to the clipboard?
The viewer automatically copies the current capture so it is ready to paste immediately after capture and after editing actions such as crop or annotation save.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Smart Screen Capture upload my screenshots?
No. The default extension flow does not upload screenshots to a remote server. Your screenshots stay on your device.
Why does the extension need page access?
The extension needs temporary access to the page you choose to capture so it can measure, scroll, and stitch a full-page screenshot.
Can I capture only the visible area?
Not at the moment. The current release is focused on full-page capture, followed by editing and export in the viewer.
How do I remove my data?
You can uninstall the extension to remove its stored browser data. You can also clear browser extension storage depending on your browser settings.
Is there a keyboard shortcut?
Yes, you can set up custom keyboard shortcuts through Chrome's extension
settings. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts to configure them.
